Police states that Lilin Operation for Christmas and New Year holiday will be commenced for 12 days. “Lilin Operation will be held from December 22nd, 2023 to January 2nd, 2024,” says Head Bureau of Operational Development of Indonesian National Police (INP) Security Maintenance Agency, Brigadier General Makhruzi Rahman on Wednesday (11/29/2023). According to him, Lilin Operation will prioritize preventive measures and law enforcement to ensure public safety and security in celebrating their holidays. Rahman also acknowledges that terrorism still posses a considerable threat during Christmas which police aims to prevent by further improving their security operations. “Potential threats along with security disturbances and other social issues such as general crimes, drugs abuse, hate speech, social conflicts, terrorism, and natural disasters still looms over holidays. This begs for comprehensive anticipation and handling measures from us with the support from related stakeholders,” he explains. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
