inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, has begun coordinating with the Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Andi Sumangerukka, to prepare an acting Regent for East Kolaka following a sting operation on Regent Abdul Azis.

The Minister of Home Affairs made this statement after a meeting on the Consolidation and Acceleration of Operations of the Merah Putih Village/Sub-District Cooperative in Denpasar, Bali on Friday (8/8/2025).

"I have coordinated with Governor Andi to immediately (prepare) whether he will be detained or not," as reported by Antaranews, Sunday (8/10/2025).

The Minister of Home Affairs has stated that he still wants to observe the legal process, but he has confirmed that if the East Kolaka Regent is found guilty, Yosep Sahaka will replace him. 

Regarding the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) sting operation that ensnared Abdul Azis, he says that he continues to monitor the case.

“Preventive measures have been carried out repeatedly by us in this case, but unfortunately there are some who still dares to step over line,” explains Minister Tito.

Previously, the Regent of East Kolaka, Abdul Azis, was arrested by KPK after attending the NasDem National Working Meeting in Makassar.
