inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. Social Affairs Minister Syaifullah Yusuf confirmed that the Sekolah Rakyat program remains on track despite several teachers and students withdrawing from the program.
In his statement, he stated that his ministry respects the decision of the teachers and students to withdraw from the school, but emphasized that this does not disrupt the inclusive and talent-based education program.
"Their withdrawals do not necessarily stop our program. As of now, teaching and learning activities continue at the schools that are already running," he said, as reported by Antaranews, Saturday (9/8/2025).
After reviewing Sekolah Rakyat 9 Bandung, at Wyataguna Complex, the Minister of Social Affairs stated that based on his data, 143 teachers have resigned, representing approximately 9.7 percent of the total number of the Sekolah Rakyat teachers. Those who withdrew were those who had passed the selection process and chose to resign before being placed.
"Among the students, around 1.4 percent withdrew, with some returning after being approached. We don't force them. It's their choice, and we respect their decisions," he said.
Sekolah Rakyat, designed to eliminate academic tests and instead utilize talent mapping as the basis of learning. The program is targeted to operate in 159 locations by the end of 2025, spread from Sabang to Merauke, and from Miangas to Rote.
"By August 15th, we will reach 100 locations if the infrastructure is ready, with 59 additional locations to follow in September," he explained.
He further emphasized that Sekolah Rakyat are not conventional formal schools, but rather centers for development based on children's potential. Therefore, he asked the public not to equate the system with public schools that adhere to high academic standards.
