Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Correction, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, clarified on Thursday (14/5/2026) that the government did not order the dissolution of public screenings for the documentary "Pesta Babi" ( Pig Party).
He noted that while some universities in Lombok restricted screenings due to administrative procedures, events in other cities like Bandung and Sukabumi proceeded without interference.
"The government did not issue any central directive to stop these screenings. Let the public watch, discuss, and debate; this fosters critical thinking," Minister Yusril stated during a press briefing on Thursday (14/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The documentary criticizes National Strategic Projects (PSN) in South Papua, alleging environmental damage and violations of indigenous rights. While acknowledging the film's provocative title, Minister Yusril emphasized that the government views such criticism as a constructive tool for evaluation. He reaffirmed that Papua is an integral part of Indonesia and denied the film's allegations of modern colonialism.
