inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Manpower and the Austrian Government are collaborating to strengthen vocational education. This is through the development of tourism and welding vocational training at the Banyuwangi Vocational and Productivity Training Center (BPVP), East Java.
The cooperation agreement was marked by the signing of a document establishing the Banyuwangi Vocational Training Development Center (BTVTC). This was held at the inauguration of the BPVP Banyuwangi School Operations.
"Tourism and welding are two fields currently in high demand. This is an effort to connect industry and human resources with standardized and needed competencies," said the Minister of Manpower, Yassierli, as reported by RRI on Tuesday (8/12/2025).
He expressed his appreciation to the Austrian Government for this collaboration, noting that Austria has provided not only full financial support but also knowledge transfer, strengthened training management, and curriculum development. And increasing the capacity of human resources in training through supervision and mentoring from Austrian experts.
He also hopes that through this collaboration, the community, especially the younger generation of Banyuwangi and the surrounding area, will have access to modern skills training that meets industry standards and is ready to compete in both the domestic and global job markets.
"Banyuwangi was chosen for this strategic collaboration because it has high economic potential and tourism growth. Furthermore, the construction industry is growing here, and there is a high demand for human resources with professional welding skills," he explained.
He further added that strengthening the vocational training center is crucial to meet industry needs, with the hope that BPVP can become a vocational training center in the regency at the eastern tip of Java Island. Austrian Ambassador Thomas Loidl stated that the development of vocational education is part of a long-standing partnership spanning 70 years with the Indonesian government.
"Austria has a very low underemployment rate, due to our strong vocational education. We are pleased to be involved in this collaboration. I hope the development of vocational education in Banyuwangi will proceed well and meet expectations," he explained.
