Inp.polri.go.id - Penajam. The Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) pushed to finish the apron and runway construction at the VVIP Airport IKN by August 2024.

Director General of Bina Marga Rachman Arief confirmed on Sunday (28/7/2024) that the apron, measuring 180 x 90 meters, is scheduled for completion by 4 August 2024. The 2,200-meter runway with an area of 3,000 m² is expected to be finished by the end of the month, as reported by antaranews.com.

The project includes three helipads for VIP guests and connecting roads to the provincial road in North Penajam Paser. Weather conditions are critical for ensuring the quality of construction, with no room for error, he said.

Rachman added that coordination with the Ministry of Transportation will follow to handle the airport’s operational aspects.
