inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, emphasized that empowerment is the main key to improving welfare in villages. To accelerate this program, cross-ministerial support, such as with the Ministry of Social Affairs, is needed.

In realizing this effort, Minister Yandri signed a cooperation to build synergy to accelerate social welfare in villages on November 15th, 2024.

On this occasion, he noted that most of the poor live in rural areas. Therefore, empowerment through Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) is a good strategic step.

He explained that the empowerment program not only reduces poverty but also creates more job opportunities. The main focus is to help beneficiary families and unemployed youth to be more independent.

President Prabowo's direction also emphasized the importance of self-sufficiency in villages. This includes self-sufficiency in food, energy, and improving community nutrition.

According to him, the role of the Ministry of Social Affairs is very vital in supporting empowerment in villages. This cross-ministerial collaboration will accelerate poverty alleviation more effectively.

Downstreaming of village products is also an important part of empowerment. With downstreaming, local products can have added value that increases residents' income.

Furthermore, he also gave examples of the success of several villages that are now free from poverty thanks to the empowerment. These villages have developed into independent and prosperous communities.

At the end of the opportunity, he hoped that cross-ministerial support would continue to be strengthened to accelerate village empowerment. That way, village communities can enjoy better welfare.
