Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Bali Regional Police have detained a Turkish citizen for allegedly smuggling 1.29 kilograms of cocaine through I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.

The suspect, identified as 26-year-old Halil Sener, a professional disc jockey, was arrested  on 3 February 2026 after arriving on an Emirates flight from Dubai. Customs officials discovered the narcotics during an X-ray scan of his luggage, which revealed a clear plastic package containing the illicit white powder.

"Based on the results of the examination conducted by officers, the suspect HS claimed he was asked for help by someone named Miami," Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya confirmed during a press conference in Denpasar on Saturday (7/2/2026), as reported by antaranews.com.

Investigators revealed that Sener met a handler known as "M" at a hotel in Brazil, where he was tasked with transporting the drugs to Bali. While the suspect claimed he had not yet received payment, police believe he is part of a sophisticated international trafficking network.

Sener now faces severe legal consequences under Indonesia’s revised Criminal Code, with potential penalties including life imprisonment or a maximum of 20 years behind bars.
