Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics announced on Friday (9/8/2024) that the National Data Center (PDN) in Cikarang, West Java, is set to begin operations in 2025.
Director General of Applications and Informatics Hokky Situngkir said that the center's infrastructure and design are progressing, with ongoing evaluations of security and backup systems.
Indonesia’s national data center in Surabaya, East Java was down following a ransomware attack in June.
The PDN in Cikarang will initially be managed by a third-party service provider, with the Ministry overseeing and assisting the management. The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) will also be involved to ensure optimal digital security, according to antaranews.com.
The PDN Cikarang, financed through a Government-to-Government (G-to-G) scheme with France, has received €164.7 million (about Rp 2.7 trillion). The data center aims to integrate data across ministries and agencies, enhancing public service governance and supporting Indonesia's Digital Vision 2045.
The Cikarang center, two other data centers are planned for Batam and the new capital city, Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN).
