The Chief of Indonesian National Police, Police General, Listyo Sigit Prabowo, reminded the leadership of the Indonesian National Police to be a role model for all its members. Commissioner of National Police Commission, Poengky Indarti, considered that the direction of the Chief of Indonesian National Police was a manifestation of the cultural reform of the Indonesian National Police.
"The direction of the Chief of Indonesian National Police is the embodiment of the Cultural Reform of the Indonesian National Police. Therefore, the spirit of Cultural Reform of the Indonesian National Police must be continuously inflamed so that the leadership and all members of the Indonesian National Police carry out well," he explained in a written message, Saturday (04/12/2021).
According to him, the public hopes that the character and behaviour of Indonesian National Police members during the New Order era will change. From what was originally militaristic, arrogant, and extortionate, they must become a humanist civilian policeman and respect human rights.
"As a police officer, they must be able to carry out their duties to serve, protect, protect the community and enforce the law to realize Maintenance of Public Order and Security," he said.
The Commissioner of the National Police Commission continued that the nature of serving, nurturing, and protecting the community needs to be put forward sincerely. Police preventive measures also need to be put forward.
"Indonesian National Police members also need to prioritize preventive and preemptive actions rather than law enforcement," he concluded.
