inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police confirmed that the identification results of a bag containing human remains sent on the sixth day of the search operation did not indicate that they are landslide victim in Cisarua, West Bandung Regency.
Head of Public Relations for the West Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Hendra Rochmawan, stated that the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team had received a body bag containing bones from the Search and Rescue (SAR) team post today.
"After conducting a forensic examination and reconciling post-mortem and ante-mortem data, the bones were not identified as those of a landslide victim," he said, as reported by Antaranews, Thursday (1/29/2026).
Based on the analysis by the forensic and DVI teams, the remains are estimated to be more than a year old, making them unrelated to the landslide in the area.
The West Java Regional Police suspect the remains came from a family grave affected by the landslide and were carried by ground movement or heavy equipment during the evacuation process.
Furthermore, the West Java Regional Police also revealed a unique identification case, involving a body found in two different bags.
After forensic data matching, the two bags were confirmed to be from the same body and were then reconciled. Currently, there are 13 unidentified bodies still undergoing further identification.
