inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo emphasized his commitment to take firm action against all forms of thuggery that disturb the community.
In his statement, Sigit ensured that legal action would be taken without discrimination, regardless of the symbols or groups from which the perpetrators came.
"In relation to thuggery, we do not see which group they are from, we are not looking at from what group they are, what we see is their actions. If they disturb the community, we will take firm action. As long as they disturb the community, we will not compromise and we will take firm action," said Sigit at the Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) of Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam) and the Mobile Brigade Corps at the PTIK Auditorium Building, South Jakarta, Thursday.
As a concrete step, INP has been holding the Pekat Operation since May 1, 2025 simultaneously throughout Indonesia that acts against all social disturbances. This operation targets various forms of crime that often disturb the public.
"The issue of thuggery, disturbances in industrial areas, debt collector issues, drugs, online gambling, smuggling, TPPO (human trafficking), and terrorism, are the responsibility entrusted to us by the President," he said.
Furthermore, he explained that the eradication of thuggery is also part of INP's efforts to create a conducive situation to national economic growth and investment.
In carrying out these duties, INP also collaborates with various parties, including local governments and related stakeholders, to formulate solutions to various security problems that occur in society.
At the end of his direction, Sigit also reminded INP personnel to always be prepared to face potential natural disasters. He emphasized the importance of resources and main weapons systems preparation in order to respond quickly when a disaster occurs.
