inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections, has installed signs of “no tipping” at airports and international ports to prevent extortion.
"We have installed 'no tipping' signs in three languages, especially at the airport and international port crossings with the most passengers," said Acting Director General of Immigration Saffar M. Godam as quoted by Antara on Monday (2/3/2025).
Saffar is committed to eliminating extortion practices at immigration checkpoints. In this regard, the Directorate General of Immigration has deployed a team from the Directorate of Internal Compliance to directly supervise the busiest immigration checkpoints in Indonesia.
At the same time, the Directorate General of Immigration has opened direct complaints via the quick response code (QR code) available at each immigration counter. The public can submit allegations of fraud through this channel.
The Directorate General of Immigration also continues to strengthen the digitalization of immigration services for efficiency and to make it easier for people to cross with electronic visas via autogates. This digitalization minimizes interaction between officers and crossers so that it is believed to be able to reduce the potential for abuse of authority.
Saffar explained that his party has installed 264 auto gates at five large immigration checkpoints (TPI). At Soekarno-Hatta International Airport itself, he said, 98 autog ates have been installed.
"And it is planned to be optimized in all TPIs in Indonesia," concluded Acting Director General of Immigration Saffar.
