Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police have dispatched a specialized team of psychological counselors to Ngada Regency to support the family of a 10-year-old student who committed suicide on 29 January 2026.
NTT Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Darmoko confirmed on Wednesday (4/2/2026) that the team, led by senior psychologists, will provide intensive mental health support in Nenowea Village until 8 February 2026. Preliminary investigations and the crime scene processing suggest the fourth-grade student took his life due to extreme economic hardship and disappointment.
"The team traveled to Ngada today to provide assistance and strengthening for the victim's family," said Inspector General Rudi Darmoko during an official ceremony in Kupang, as reported by antaranews.com
In addition to psychological counseling, the NTT Police have coordinated with the Ngada Sub-regional Police to distribute aid and moral support to the grieving mother. While investigators continue to probe the specific motives, the case has already triggered a broader government review of poverty detection.
