Inp.polri.go.id - Tanjung Selor. The North Kalimantan Police Chief, Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, announced on Friday (22/3/2024) the interception of an attempted smuggling operation involving 50 kilograms of methamphetamine from Malaysia in Nunukan Regency. "The methamphetamine originated from Tawau, Sabah, Malaysia, with its intended destination being Pinrang, South Sulawesi," he said. The investigation commenced when the Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Nunukan Sub-regional Police received a tip on 18 March 2024, regarding two carts suspected of containing methamphetamine. Following this lead, investigators from the Nunukan Police, the Tunon Taka Port Special Police Office (KSKP), and the Narcotics Directorate of the North Kalimantan Police were able to locate the contraband and its owner, identified as N, in Selisun Village, South Nunukan District, the following day. Upon X-Ray examination, two plastic drums containing a total of 50 packets of methamphetamine, equivalent to 50 kilograms, were uncovered. "The suspect was hired by an individual in Malaysia, with a travel fee of 5,000 Malaysian ringgit. He was promised an extra payment of 30,000 Malaysian ringgit upon successful delivery of the methamphetamine to Pinrang," Chief Daniel explained. The suspect will be charged under Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics. (mg/fa/pr/nm)
