Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. North Jakarta Metropolitan Sub-regional Police are investigating the cause of a fire that killed four family members, including a pregnant woman, in Pademangan early Wednesday morning.
“Officers have conducted a crime scene investigation with the National Police Forensic Lab to determine the exact cause,” said North Jakarta Police Chief Senior Superintendent Erick Frendriz on Wednesday (15/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The victims were identified as Saniah (55), Sumiatun (20), who was pregnant, and two children, Ais (11) and Udin (2). Their bodies will be returned to their hometown for burial.
According to witnesses, the blaze began when the homeowner was burning copper, which ignited nearby styrofoam and spread quickly due to passing train winds. The fire destroyed three two-story houses built on land owned by state-owned railway company PT KAI.
North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat expressed condolences to the victims’ families, calling the tragedy a reminder of the importance of fire safety in densely populated areas.
