Inp.polri.go.id - Manado. The North Sulawesi Regional Police are identifying 16 elderly victims who died in a fire at Panti Werda Damai nursing home in Manado, as authorities continue forensic and investigative procedures following the deadly incident.
“Our team is currently conducting a full identification process for all deceased victims at Bhayangkara Hospital and coordinating with their families,” North Sulawesi Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Alamsyah P. Hasibuan said on Monday (29/12/2025), as cited by antaranews.com.
The fire broke out at the elderly care facility in Ranomuut Subdistrict, Paal Dua, Manado, at around 8.36 pm. local time on Sunday and was extinguished by three municipal fire engines by 9.30 pm. Police secured the scene, assisted evacuations, and transported survivors to nearby hospitals.
The Disaster Victim Identification team and forensic experts are examining the victims, while investigators from the forensic laboratory unit are processing the scene and questioning witnesses to determine the cause of the fire.
