Inp.polri.go.id - Mataram. The Chief Secretary of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT), Bangbang Surono, has announced a significant shift in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), no longer considering it a high-risk zone for radicalism and terrorism.
During a meeting with Acting NTB Governor Lalu Gita Ariadi at the NTB Governor's Office in Mataram on Thursday (19/10/23), Surono highlighted the noteworthy transformation in NTB, reflecting a considerable decrease in incidents related to radicalism and terrorism, which has led to its removal from the high-risk category.
However, Surono emphasized the need for continued vigilance despite the favorable conditions, warning about the potential for a resurgence of radicalism and terrorism.
He attributed the positive developments in NTB to the central government's intervention, specifically through the BNPT's targeted programs designed to enhance community resilience.
"We are fostering community resilience, encouraging people to remain vigilant, thus enhancing their ability to monitor and address instances of radicalism and terrorism. This approach has been implemented across various ministries and institutions, with the BNPT at the forefront. The Indonesian Military and the Indonesian National Police also engage in counter-terrorism efforts," Surono said.
