Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Regional Police Deputy Police Brigadier General Awi Setiyono opened a Border Coordination Meeting with Timor Leste’s Police in Kupang on Wednesday (6/11/2024).
The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation to combat transnational crime along the Indonesia-Timor Leste border.
Chief Awi emphasized the importance of close cooperation in tackling transnational crime.
“Coordinated efforts are essential to address this shared threat,” he said.
Given the complex social, economic, and security issues at the border, the meeting aimed to develop strategies to address threats like smuggling, human trafficking, and other criminal activities.
The event featured expert speakers discussing narcotics prevention, early detection, and security for cross-border trade and travel. Attendees included Timor Leste’s delegation, officials from East Nusa Tenggara Police, the National Narcotics Agency in the province, the Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Traffic and Border Unit, Customs Office, Immigration Office, and other stakeholders from both countries.
