Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation reported that more than 10.11 million people traveled using public transportation during the first nine days of the 2025–2026 Christmas and New Year travel period, reflecting increased mobility nationwide.
“From 18 to 26 December 2025, total public transport passengers reached 10,117,847, marking a 4.85 percent increase year on year,” said Transportation Ministry spokesperson Ernita Titis Dewi on Saturday (27/12/2025), as cited by antaranews.com
The data covers rail, sea, air, ferry, and intercity bus services across Indonesia. Railways recorded the highest volume with 3.52 million passengers, followed by air transport at 2.46 million and ferry crossings at 1.73 million. The ministry also monitored rising vehicle movements on toll roads and arterial routes during the same period.
The government emphasized safety as the main priority, urging operators and travelers to comply with regulations, remain weather-aware, and follow police and transport officers’ directions to ensure smooth and secure year-end journeys.
