Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has facilitated the repatriation of 101 Indonesian nationals who overstayed their visas in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Indonesian Embassy in Abu Dhabi said in a statement on Monday (13/11/2023) that the repatriation was the results of the cooperation between the Embassy and the UAE Immigration Department.
The repatriated group included 46 mothers and 55 children, including infants and toddlers. Upon arrival in Jakarta on Monday, they will be assisted by the Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (BP2MI) to facilitate their return to their respective home towns. The majority of those repatriated are mainly from Cianjur, Karawang and Sukabumi.
The repatriated Indonesians, along with their children, underwent DNA testing to confirm the biological relationship between the parents and children, as their marriages were not officially recorded in the population management systems of either the UAE or Indonesia., antaranews.com reported. This precautionary measure protects the children's rights and ensures access to proper education.
The Indonesian Ambassador to the UAE, Husin Bagis, expressed his gratitude for the joint efforts and emphasised that this repatriation demonstrates the government's commitment to the protection of its citizens.
