Inp.polri.go.id - New York. The United Nations (UN) has announced that Indonesian First Brigadier Renita Rismayanti  will be recognized as the Best Female Police Officer in 2023 for her contributions to crime mapping and database development on Thursday (16/11/2023) during the annual United Nations Police Week at the UN Headquarters in New York.
Brigadier Rismayanti, who is serving as a Crime Database Officer in the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), has played a pivotal role mapping and analyzing crime-prone areas, providing valuable support to national security forces in planning operations for the benefit of local communities. "Innovation and the efforts of First Brigadier Rismayanti in leveraging data for UN peacekeeping have significantly contributed to enhancing security for vulnerable communities, including women and girls," said Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Deputy Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations, in a statement as reported by antaranews.com. He praised her as an exemplary figure, highlighting her as a positive example of how women's participation and leadership in peacekeeping can improve the effectiveness of protection and peace-building efforts. Expressing gratitude, Brigadier Rismayanti said, "I feel fortunate to use my technological skills to enhance security for communities throughout the Central African Republic. I hope that the visibility gained from winning this award will strengthen the belief among women and girls that all fields of expertise in the police force are open to us." At 27, Brigadier Rismayanti becomes the youngest recipient of the UN Best Female Police Officer Award. Beginning her career in 2014 as a public information officer in the Indonesian National Police (INP), she has since worked in various capacities, showcasing her commitment to innovation and leadership. United Nations Police Adviser Faisal Shahkar commended Renita, stating, "After achieving many milestones by embracing technology in a field traditionally dominated by men, First Brigadier Rismayanti represents the future of the United Nations Police." The UN Best Female Police Officer Award, initiated in 2011, aims to recognize the outstanding contributions of female police officers in UN peacekeeping operations and promote women's empowerment. The award ceremony will take place at the UN Headquarters on Thursday from 13:00 to 14:00 EST (01:00-02:00 WIB) and will be broadcast live on UN Web TV: https://media.un.org/en/webtv.
