Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police has refuted the statement made by the spokesperson of the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM), Sebby Sambom, regarding the fatalities of two police officers in an attack on Camp Pendulang Emas in Kampung Kawe, Mining Area 36, Pegunungan Bintang Regency, on Sunday (27/8/23).
"We can confirm that among the 7 victims, 2 who casualties were civilians and not police officers. Our investigative efforts are diligently underway to uncover the truth behind this incident," stated Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, the Head of Public Relations of Papua Regional Police, on Tuesday (29/8/23). He further explained that during the incident, two individuals from Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains, were killed in an attack by unidentified individuals (OTK). The incident also resulted in the evacuation of five individuals with the initials OB (45), JM (49), JFB (21), AL (29), and R (56) to Boven Digoel Regency after sustaining injuries.
