Soekarno-Hatta Airport Enhances Immigration Facilities for 43rd ASEAN Summit

The Class I Immigration Office of Immigration Inspection Centers (TPI) at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang is currently preparing a number of integrated special immigration crossing facilities in anticipation of the upcoming 43rd ASEAN Summit, scheduled from September 5th to 7th, 2023. Muhammad Tito Andrianto, the Head of TPI at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, stated that these facilities are being prepared to ensure the smooth immigration inspection process for ASEAN Summit delegates, considering the high volume of traveler traffic at the airport. "We are setting up multiple facilities to welcome the guests and the delegates of the 43rd ASEAN Summit. First, the provision of the Mobile Unit Border Control Management device, tailored specifically for delegates at the level of head of state or minister," he said in Tangerang on Tuesday (29/8/23). These special immigration facilities, he added, are located in Terminal 3 and in the Commercial Important Person (CIP) Terminal I. "Considering the high influx of regular passenger traffic, these facilities are necessary to support the inspection of the delegates," he said. He underlined the extensive experience of Soekarno-Hatta Immigration as the primary and most bustling gateway in Indonesia, adept at furnishing specialized services for international events. "Particularly for the 43rd ASEAN Summit, we have prepared immigration services duplicated to those provided during the G-20 Summit in 2022," he elaborated. Under the banner of "ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth," the theme for Indonesia's 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship underscores the nation's commitment to position ASEAN not just as a regional organization, but also as a global player. President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo is scheduled to inaugurate and preside over 12 significant meetings during the event. These sessions encompass the 43rd ASEAN Summit in both plenary and retreat formats, as well as summits such as the 26th ASEAN-China Summit, the 24th ASEAN-South Korea Summit, the 26th ASEAN-Japan Summit, and the 11th ASEAN-United States Summit. Additional meetings comprise the ASEAN-Canada Summit, the 26th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, the 20th ASEAN-India Summit, the 3rd ASEAN-Australia Summit, the 18th East Asia Summit (EAS), and the 13th ASEAN-United Nations Summit.
