inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Social Affairs Minister Saifullah Yusuf stated that the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) for People’s Schools could last 15 days. He explained that this duration is longer than for public schools, which typically only last five days.

He explained that the MPLS period is longer because all elements of the school are completely new. From the principal, teachers, students, and educational staff, they have never met before.

"In public schools, the introduction is only for new students. In this case, everything is new: the principal is new, the teachers are new, the students are new, and the other educational staff are also new," he said while attending the opening of the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) for People's Schools, which was held at Junior High School (SRMP) 10, Sentra Inten Soeweno, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Monday (7/14/2025).

He further explained that the adaptation process takes time for learning activities to run smoothly. Therefore, the MPLS at People's Schools was made more comprehensive and in-depth.

After the MPLS is completed, students will participate in matriculation, or an orientation period. This stage is crucial because the government does not conduct academic tests during student admission.

Children will undergo socialization and adaptation during the learning process. They will study together until they have a shared understanding.

He also ensured that the curriculum is ready for use in all People’s Schools. The development was carried out in collaboration with a cross-ministerial task force.
