inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo reminded personnel to carry out their duties in overseeing public protests in accordance with standard operating procedures regulated by the police.
"We are all obliged to maintain security throughout the process and to follow the law, which requires respecting applicable rules and laws, safeguarding public freedoms, upholding existing legal values, and of course, maintaining public unity," he said, as quoted in an official statement received on Tuesday (9/2/2025).
The Chief of Police emphasized that if a violation occurs due to expressing opinions that do not comply with the rules, the police have the authority to issue a warning. He also reminded personnel to be wary of infiltration.
According to General Sigit, any anarchic actions that impact companies, resource facilities, disrupt resources, and even cause loss of life will disrupt the economic situation. Therefore, firm steps must be implemented as regulated by statutory provisions.
"Regarding illegal activities, especially those involving the destruction, burning, urbanization, and vandalism of public facilities, and especially those at internationally recognized sites, we are obliged to take firm action," he said.
Before taking action, the Chief of Police asked personnel to be able to differentiate between orderly and anarchic crowds.
On the other hand, he asked the personnel to continue to maintain solidarity, unity, and oneness by restoring the existing situation.
