inp.polri.go.id - Banten. The Banten Regional Police's General Criminal Investigation Directorate has successfully arrested a man with the initials AM (49). AM was arrested in a housing complex in South Bogor District, Friday (9/5/2025).
AM had previously been listed as a wanted person for fraud and embezzlement in land sales. In fact, AM was recorded as having fled to Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The Banten Regional Police's Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Dian Setyawan, explained that AM is a suspect in fraud and embezzlement in the sale of land plots in the Istana Mulia Islamic Boarding School area, Bantarwaru Village, Cinangka District, Serang Regency.
"This case began in 2017, when the victim, Miseno, received an offer to purchase a land plot from the suspect AM," Dian said, as reported by lensametro, Friday (9/19/2025).
He revealed that the suspect AM promised a 300-square-meter plot of land at the location indicated in the site plan at a price of IDR 190,000 per square meter. The payment system offered was installments over 36 months.
The victim then paid a down payment and installments until the total amount of IDR 57 million was paid in full. However, until the payment was made, the promised plot unit had not been realized.
In fact, the land was still full with greens and did not match the location map image provided at the beginning. Not only that, the transfer of the sale and purchase was only made with a Deed of Sale and Purchase Agreement (PJB) with a different land object.
“AM used a similar method with hundreds of people. It was recorded that around 500 consumers had made payments, both those who were still paying in installments and those who had already paid in full,” he explained.
Dian says that his party is currently handling eight police reports related to suspect AM.
AM is being held accountable for his actions under Articles 372 and 378 of the Criminal Code. Dian also urged anyone who has been a victim of AM's actions to report the case immediately.
