Inp.polri.go.id – Riau. Riau Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate uncovers seven suspects from the International drug syndicate and confiscates 31 kilograms of meth and 2,397 ecstasy pills.
The Director of Riau Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Manang Soebeti confirms the case uncovering. The police also have arrested the suspects with the initials of AP (39), FK (44), MW (27), RKP (36), S (44), SRP (32), and E (45).
“Based on our investigation, the drugs were coming from Malaysia and sent through Rupat Island, Bengkalis Regency,” said Manang quoted from RRI on Monday (3/25/2024).
In his statement, Manang also reveals that four suspects admit to being the drug courier.
“They were paid ranging from IDR 10 million to IDR 20 million per kilogram,” said Manang.
The thwarting of this drug flow is estimated to have saved around 316,550 people from the dangers of the illicit drugs.
“Suspects are charged with article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with article 132 paragraph (1) Republic of Indonesia Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics. They are threatened with capital punishment, life imprisonment, minimum six years imprisonment and maximum imprisonment of 20 years,” conclude Manang.
