inp.polri.go.id - Bantul. The Yogyakarta Regional Police, together with the Bantul Regency Government and relevant stakeholders, moved swiftly to resolve the disturbance that occurred on Sunday (5/24/2026) on Ring Road Selatan street, Glugo, Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul.

The disturbance occurred at the location of the First Mass of the Bantul Prosperous Mission Church (GMS).

The Head of Public Relations for the Yogyakarta Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ihsan, stated that the problem allegedly stemmed from issues with the GMS's lack of permits for the establishment and operation of a place of worship, which were protested by the Islamic Jihad Front (FJI).

The Bantul Sub-regional Police, along with relevant stakeholders were on standby and secured the location to mitigate the potential for conflict to prevent it from escalating.

Ihsan explained that after quelling and restraining the FJI protest, the Bantul Sub-regional Police Chief also mediated between the two parties, each represented by Mr. Darohman from the FJI, and Reverend Yosep Moro Wijaya, representing the GMS.

"Following the mediation, the FJI requested that the GMS complete the permits for the establishment and operation of the place of worship and disseminate information to the local community. The GMS requested that the prayers, which had been interrupted at that time, be completed," stated Ihsan on Tuesday (5/26/2026).

He added that both parties agreed to the mediation request to uphold and respect the noble values of tolerance and tolerance that have been well-established.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, the Yogyakarta Regional Police urged an immediate meeting involving relevant stakeholders, including the Bantul Regency Government, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Indonesian Military (TNI), the Prosecutor's Office, the Forum for the Establishment and Operation of the Place of Worship (FKUB), and representatives from the GMS.

Ihsan stated that the meeting decided that GMS would immediately complete the permits for the establishment and operation of places of worship. During this process, GMS would temporarily suspend religious activities in Glugo Village, Panggungharjo, Sewon, Bantul, until all regulations are met.

The Yogyakarta Regional Police emphasized that freedom of worship is guaranteed by the constitution, therefore, any form of unilateral intimidation is not justified by law.
