inp.polri.go.id - Riau Island. In an effort to maintain price stability and food availability amidst market volatility, the Lingga Sub-regional Police, along with the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), and the Lingga Regency Government, are continuing the Affordable Food Movement (GPM) program, which will run for three days, from August 22 to 24, 2025, at the Wismaria Traffic Post Intersection, Lingga Regency, Riau Islands.

This activity demonstrates the synergy between the three pillars of the police, local government, and Bulog in suppressing inflation while strengthening community food security. The GPM is a rapid response to the price fluctuations of staple foods that often burden low-income communities.

Superintendent Pahala Martua Nababan, Lingga Police Sub-regional Chief, emphasized that the role of the police is not limited to law enforcement alone, but also actively participates in maintaining social and economic stability.

"The Indonesian National Police (INP), specifically the Lingga Sub-regional Police, are committed to fully supporting the government's program to suppress inflation and ensure affordable food distribution for the public. This Affordable Food Movement is one concrete step toward achieving this," said Maidir Riwanto.

Various staple goods were sold directly to the public at subsidized prices, lower than market prices. The community welcomed this initiative. In addition to obtaining affordable staples, they also received education about food security and the importance of all stakeholders' active participation in maintaining price stability.

With security and direct supervision from the Lingga Police, the GPM activities proceeded in an orderly and safe manner. The presence of police officers on site contributed to a conducive and comfortable shopping environment for residents.

It is hoped that this program will continue and reach more areas, so that its benefits can be felt more widely, especially by lower-income communities who are most affected by food price fluctuations.
