The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police has officially terminated its investigation into the death of the young diplomat from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu), Arya Daru Pangayunan. The termination was made after it was confirmed that no criminal offense had been found.

The Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that the termination was made after investigators conducted a series of investigations, including crime scene processing, evidence examination, and witness testimony review. The case review concluded that no criminal offense had occurred in Arya Daru's death.

"Yes, that's right, the investigators' statement was to terminate the case because based on the investigation, evidence processing, and witness testimony, the case review did not reveal any criminal offense," said Budi when confirmed on Friday (1/9/2026).

Although the investigation has been terminated, Budi emphasized that the case is not completely closed. Investigators remain open to revisiting the case if new evidence is discovered by the family.

"If the family has new, valid evidence, investigators will investigate further," he said.
