inp.polri.go.id - Bogor. The police revealed the cause of severe traffic jams in the Puncak area, Bogor Regency, West Java, from Sunday (9/15/2024) to Monday morning (9/16/2024) due to massive increase in traffic volume. The traffic jam phenomenon also went viral on social media in various videos.

Bogor Sub-region Police Traffic Unit Head, Police Senior Inspector Rizky Guntama explained that other than the high traffic volume, the behavior of motorcyclists is another factor causing the traffic jam.

"There are many two-wheeled vehicles at night as the traffic volume going up and down is balanced in the Puncak area," he explained when contacted by reporters.

He said that the volume of vehicles from Puncak to Jakarta and vice versa was still observed to be busy. On the other hand, he also highlights how many motorcyclists went against the flow, causing severe traffic jams in the Puncak area..

"When they saw a chance to slip by, without hesitation they took that chance even if it went against the flow. This bad behavior in driving also plays a role for the severe traffic jams in the Puncak area," he said.
