Soekarno-Hatta Sub-regional Police Prevents 11 CPMI Departure to Cambodia

inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang.Soekarno-Hatta Sub-regional Police thwarted the departure of 14 illegal prospective Indonesian migrant workers (CPMI) to Cambodia and arrested two men responsible for the illegal operation.

 

"The victims and the two people who sent them off were caught in the Non-procedural CPMI Departure Prevention Operation held by Soekarno-Hatta Sub-regional Police," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit of Soekarno-Hatta Sub-regional Police, Police Assistant Superintendent Reza Fahlevi in ​​a written statement on Monday (9/16/2024).

 

He explained that the dozens of illegal CPMI were dominated by men. They were arrested at different times and locations.

 

He explained that investigators arrested eight illegal CPMI at Terminal 2 of Soetta Airport on Wednesday (9/11/2024). Then on Friday (9/13/2024), one illegal CPMI was arrested, as well as two men with the initials MZ and PJ who sent the victims off.

 

Furthermore, on Saturday (9/14/2024) officers managed to secure another two illegal CPMIs at Terminal 2 of Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, and in the evening, officers again secured three illegal CPMIs at Terminal 3.

 

"This case was uncovered thanks to information from the public regarding the alleged non-procedural departure of CPMIs via Soetta Airport," he explained.

 

According to him, from the results of the examination, the illegal CPMIs admitted that they were offered work in Cambodia as company employees, restaurant waiters. Then, there were also those who received job offers as service operators (customer service), to become admins of online games linked to online gambling.

 

"On average, they received offers to work abroad non-procedurally from the Telegram social media application by someone who is still under investigation," he said.

 

Reza further revealed that in this case his party had named two people as the main suspects, namely men with the initials MZ and PJ. In addition, evidence was also secured in the form of passports and boarding passes for the Jakarta (CGK) - Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (KUL) - Phnom Penh, Cambodia (PNH) flight route belonging to illegal CPMIs.

 

"For the non-procedural CPMIs that we have secured, their status is as witnesses, and they have now been returned to their respective hometowns," he explained.

 

For their actions, suspects MZ and PJ were charged with Article 83 in conjunction with Article 68 and/or Article 81 in conjunction with Article 69 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 18 of 2017 concerning the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers. And/or Article 4 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking (TPPO), with a penalty of 10 years in prison and a fine of IDR 15 billion.
