inp.polri.go.id - Mesuji. Mesuji Sub-regional Police personnel together with the community struggled to extinguish forest fires in two points within the jurisdiction of the Mesuji Police on Wednesday (9/24/2025).

Mesuji Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Muhammad Firdaus confirmed that from their monitoring, there had been a fire in a sugarcane field in two points.

"The first point of the fire occurred at PT. Anugrah Lestari Pratama field in Simpang Pematang District and Simpang D, Register Area 45, East Mesuji District." explained Firdaus. Friday (9/26/2025)

The area of land that burned at the first point was land belonging to PT. Anugrah Lestari Pratama, covering an area of 3 hectares, which was successfully extinguished by the authorities after deploying 10 police personnel.

Then at the second fire point that occurred at Simpang D, Register Area 45, East Mesuji District, it was also successfully extinguished after deploying 8 police personnel.

Firdaus also explained that for the time being the cause of the fire is not yet known, however, the temporary suspicion is due to the activity of clearing agricultural land by burning.

"I urge all communities to work together to protect forests and land to prevent fires considering that currently it is the dry season. We urge the people to not throwing cigarette butts carelessly and not clearing land by burning," concluded Firdaus.
