inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Communication and Digital Meutya Hafid stated that 2,333 villages in Indonesia do not yet have internet connections, so collaboration between various parties is needed to overcome this.
"We believe this figure is a reasonable target if we all join hands to complete this issue together," said the Minister of Communication and Digital, Saturday (27//9/2025).
She also mentioned that 2,017 villages currently live without 4G services. This condition is also experienced by 316 villages, the majority of which are non-residential fields.
She considered this challenge a shared task in increasing the connectivity rate in Indonesia to reach 80 percent. According to her, the struggle to build connectivity is not difficult.
She noted that on September 27, 1945, the Young Telephone and Telegraph Company (AMPTT) with its spirit of cooperation succeeded in spreading the news of Indonesia's independence for the first time to the world by taking over the Telephone and Telegraph Company (PTT) from Japanese rule.
"We will continue to push forward together with the commitment that today's struggle is not over, with the spirit of continuing all the struggles undertaken by the young generation of Post and Telecommunications in 1945," said Minister Meutya.
She continued that efforts needed to address this problem include increasing household fixed broadband penetration, which currently stands at 27.4 percent.
In addition to improving connectivity, developing a sovereign telecommunications infrastructure is also part of the strategy to strengthen national defense, especially in the recent geopolitical situation that has developed very dynamically, as well as conflicts between several countries, one of which targets telecommunications infrastructure that is paralyzed during war.
