inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Food Task Force conducted surprise inspections of several rice warehouses. These inspections were conducted to ensure the availability of rice supplies in the market and prevent hoarding by businesses.
The Head of Sub-Directorate 1 of the Trade and Industry Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, Superintendent M. Ardila Amry, emphasized that firm action would not be hesitated if any indication of hoarding was found.
"We, along with the Trade and Food Security Agency, are checking stock at several warehouses to prevent rice shortages in the market. If any indication of hoarding is found after these inspections, we will take action according to applicable law," he said on Thursday (8/14/2025).
He explained that during the surprise inspection at the PT Belitang Panen Raya warehouse, the task force team found 5,956 tons of rice produced in August. He requested that the stock be distributed immediately to prevent market supply disruptions.
"We urge businesses to distribute rice within two days of its arrival in the warehouse, ensuring market supply remains stable and avoiding shortages of the staple food," he explained.
In addition to checking stock levels, he said, the task force also ensures the quality of the stored rice. Based on the inspection results, he said, the rice in the warehouse is premium quality, with a selling price to distributors of Rp14,500–Rp14,600 per kilogram, still below the highest retail price (HET) of Rp14,900 per kilogram.
"We continue to conduct quality checks to ensure that the public receives rice that meets the quality and packaging labels," said AKBP Ardila.
