inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. Riau Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Sub-directorate III is still pursuing a drug dealer after 10 huge packages of meth and 30,000 ecstasy pills were confiscated by the police in Maredan Crossroad, Pelalawan.
The illicit items were seized directly from the suspect when the drugs were about to be moved to Palembang on Monday (2/10/2025).
Riau Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Putu Yudha Prawira said that the total weight of the meth is 9,876.6 grams.
"We secured the suspects in two different locations in Pelalawan Regency," he explained on Thursday (2/20/2025).
The first arrest occurred on East Crossroad Km 34, Bandar Sei Kijang District, where the police secured three people, namely ZM (30), AF (23), and SA (28).
But at that time no evidence of drugs was found at this location. Based on the examination of ZM's cellphone, it was discovered that they were only tasked with monitoring the road.
"The three of them acted as route monitors to ensure that the narcotics shipment journey was safe from the authorities' monitoring," he said.
Based on information obtained from the three, the police team then moved to the second location in the parking lot of a mosque on Maredan Crossroad, Bandar Sei Kijang District. There, the police arrested DS (37) and MH (34), who were suspected of being involved in the delivery of narcotics.
"From their vehicle, a large bag containing 10 packages of Guang Ying Wang brand crystal methamphetamine and six large packages of ecstasy pills with a total of around 30 thousand pills were found," he explained.
After further investigation, the police named four people as suspects, namely ZM, AF, SA, and DS.
In addition to narcotics, the police also confiscated two Daihatsu Sigra cars used in this action, as well as several cell phones belonging to the suspects which will be examined further in order to trace a wider network.
The suspects are now being held at the Riau Police Headquarters and charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) and Article 112 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
