inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. Riau Regional Police are investigating the cause of the Pertamina Refinery fire at Refinery Unit II in Dumai City by sending a team from the Forensic Laboratory and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate.

The Head of Public Relations of the Riau Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Anom Karinto, said that investigators have been at the location since Thursday (10/2/2025), until now.

The police have summoned a number of Pertamina RU Dumai Refinery workers for questioning regarding the explosion and fire at one of the production units that occurred on Wednesday (10/1/2025).

"The Head of the Forensic Laboratory and the team are already at the scene with officers from Pertamina," he said on Sunday (10/5/2025).

On the occasion, he said the investigation process can be carried out after there is certainty that there is no longer a fire at the location. This was done as a safety measure in working in the Pertamina environment.

"Yes, we have to wait until it's completely cool and there's no fire at all. We will provide further updates on the developments," he stressed.

Regarding this investigation, Pertamina Refinery Dumai management stated that they fully support and are ready to cooperate with the investigation team.

For post-incident handling, the repair process for the damaged H2 12 hydroplant production unit that caught fire and exploded is currently underway.
