The investigators of Yogyakarta Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate will still have to coordinate with criminal experts before examining Butet Kertaredjasa who was accused for insulting President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, Sunday (2/4/2024). The Director of General Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent FX Endriardi states that he has asked several individuals to clarify the allegations relating to Butet. Butet was reported by the police for reading an oration poem which allegedly containing messages insulting President Jokowi. Following the poem reading, Jokowi stans, or famously known as Projo, did not take those art-performance kindly and report Butet to the police. According to the group, Butet refer Jokowi as animal. In a report submitted by Projo, Butet could be charged with Article 315 of the Criminal Code concerning Light Insults. It explains that if someone who commits the crime will be subject to a maximum prison sentence of 4 months and 2 weeks or a fine of IDR 4,500. (ad/ri/pr/nm)
