inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police questioned suspect Dr. Richard Lee (DRL) on Wednesday (2/19/2026). DRL arrived accompanied by legal counsel at 10:30 a.m.
The Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, explained that the questioning by investigators began at 10:40 a.m. and ended at 7:00 p.m. with a total of 35 questions. After the questioning, DRL was allowed to go home around 10:30 p.m.
"Suspect DRL was not detained, and he is required to report to the police. Furthermore, the investigation process continues to be carried out professionally and proportionally," said Budi on Friday (2/20/2026).
He added that the decision was made in accordance with applicable legal provisions, including Article 100 paragraph (5) of Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning the Criminal Procedure Code. Investigators are currently completing the case file to be sent to the Public Prosecutor (JPU).
"Investigators make decisions independently and adhere to the principles of legality, professionalism, proportionality, and accountability. The DRL case continues despite the absence of detention. Investigators will complete the case file and immediately send it to the Public Prosecutor to complete the investigation that has begun. We ensure that the entire process is carried out in accordance with applicable regulations," he explained.
Budi also emphasized that the public can participate in monitoring the investigation as part of transparent law enforcement.
"We are open to public scrutiny. This case is being handled professionally, transparently, and accountably," he said.
