inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi predicts that around 144 million people will travel home for Eid al-Fitr 2026 based on a national survey, with the potential for an increase in the number of travelers compared to the previous year.

"We conducted a survey and found that 143.7 million people, or nearly 144 million, will travel. However, we anticipate a potential increase, as last year's survey showed 146 million people, while the actual number reached 154 million," said the Minister of Transportation on Friday (20/2/2026).

He explained that the Eid al-Fitr transportation post will operate from March 13–29, 2026, to coordinate all modes of land, sea, air, and rail transportation.

According to the Minister, a number of anticipatory measures have been prepared, including restrictions on the operation of freight vehicles with three axles and above, except for vehicles transporting basic necessities, fuel, and other essential needs, in accordance with the Joint Decree (SKB) between ministries.

In addition, the Ministry of Transportation, along with the Traffic Corps of the Indonesian National Police (INP), will implement traffic engineering measures such as contraflow, one-way traffic systems, and odd-even traffic policies on several toll roads prone to congestion.

Regarding the Nyepi celebrations in Bali on March 19, 2026, the Minister of Transportation stated that crossings to Bali will be temporarily suspended, and a delay system and buffer zones will be prepared.

"We will inform the public regarding the temporary port closures so they can adjust their travel schedules," said the Minister of Transportation.

The government is also implementing a Work From Anywhere (WFA) or Flexible Working Arrangement (FWA) policy on March 16-17 for the homecoming flow and March 25-26 for the return flow, which has been approved by the President and the Ministry of Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB).

"This policy is expected to distribute public movement so that it does not accumulate on certain dates, thereby ensuring safety and smooth travel," said the Minister of Transportation.
