inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police strengthened their ties with PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Office of Southern Sumatra to ensure the security of fuel distribution and vital energy resources ahead of the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H exodus.
This meeting was part of the South Sumatra Regional Police's strategic steps to anticipate potential energy distribution disruptions amidst the surging public mobility ahead of the Eid homecoming.
South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, welcomed the Pertamina delegation led by Erwin Dwiyanto, the Executive General Manager of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Regional Office of South Sumatra, along with regional management.
In their meeting, Sandi highlighted the queues of vehicles at several gas stations on out-of-town routes, such as Musi Banyuasin, Ogan Ilir, and Banyuasin, which have the potential to cause congestion and public unrest. In light of this situation, police are encouraging strict monitoring of fuel distribution to prevent hoarding, repeated filling using modified vehicles, and misuse of distribution by certain individuals.
Ahead of Operation Ketupat Musi 2026, Sandi also requested a mapping of vulnerable fuel distribution points, including functional toll roads, main arterial roads, rest areas, and areas with potential fuel consumption spikes.
Furthermore, he also highlighted the importance of ensuring the management of smallholder oil wells in several areas of South Sumatra to ensure occupational safety, environmental protection, and legal certainty.
Pertamina Patra Niaga's Executive General Manager for South Sumatra, Erwin Dwiyanto, explained that the South Sumatra operational area covers five provinces: South Sumatra, Jambi, Bengkulu, Lampung, and Bangka Belitung, making coordination with the South Sumatra Regional Police crucial for ensuring smooth energy distribution.
The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief emphasized that fuel distribution has a broad impact on social and economic stability.
"Fuel distribution is not just a matter of supply, but also concerns social and economic stability. We are ready to be present at every point requiring security, from depots to gas stations," explained Sandi on Thursday (March 12, 2026).
