inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate has uncovered a clandestine etomidate drug lab in the Greenbay Apartments area, Pluit, North Jakarta. The operation resulted in the arrest of two suspects, one of whom was a Chinese national.

Superintendent Parikhesit, Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate, said the operation began with information from Soekarno-Hatta Airport Customs regarding a suspicious package sent via an international courier service.

The package contained drugs and laboratory equipment addressed to the Tower H Lobby of the Greenbay Apartments.

He explained that the team immediately launched an investigation and ultimately arrested two suspects, identified as D and HW.

"We have apprehended two suspects: D, an Indonesian citizen, and HW, a Chinese citizen," said Parikhesit, Tuesday (1/13/2026).

During a search of the crime scene, officers found a FedEx package containing 100 grams of the narcotic etomidate, one kilogram of another chemical called SLS, and various laboratory equipment, including 3,000 ml, 1,000 ml, and 100 ml lab tubes, lab bottles, glass stirrers, digital scales, syringes, and stainless steel boilers.

The illegal lab's production equipment was shipped from India, and HW, a Chinese national, was the primary mixer in the etomidate liquid production process.

Preliminary analysis, he said, indicates that the clandestine lab is estimated to be capable of producing up to 30 liters of etomidate liquid.

Based on these calculations, if an average etomidate vape cartridge contains 2 milliliters of liquid, then from a total of 30 liters of etomidate liquid, this clandestine lab could potentially produce up to 15,000 etomidate pod cartridges ready for distribution to the public.

"From the evidence we secured, the estimated amount of material could produce around 30 liters of Etomidate liquid," said Parikhesit.

He further emphasized that the clandestine lab was successfully secured before it could operate and distribute its products to the public. This success represents a strategic step by the police to prevent drug trafficking from the production stage.
