inp.polri.go.id - Bekasi. Police reveal the investigation result relating to the shredded IDR 100,000 notes found at a landfill in Bekasi Regency. The origin of the notes has been confirmed with Bank Indonesia (BI).

"Yes (the money is real)," explained Bekasi Sub-regional Metro Police Chief Senior Superintendent Sumarni, Thursday (2/5/2026).

Sumarni stated that BI confirmed the shredded notes were old notes. However, they should have been disposed of at the Bantar Gebang landfill.

"We've coordinated with BI, and it's true that the shredded notes are the real money, old notes, from BI," he said.

He stated that BI stated that the old notes were disposed of in collaboration with a third party. However, the third party did not dispose of them at the Bantar Gebang landfill.
