The Directorate of Water and Air Police (Ditpolairud) of West Nusa Tenggara Police (Polda NTB), along with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) managed to stop the smuggling of ornamental corals. It was recorded that as many as 357 ornamental corals were about to be smuggled from the Lembar-Padang Bai Ferry Port. The smuggling is moved by using an inter-provincial intercity passenger buses (AKAP). The head of BKIPM Mataram, Obing Hobir, said that the chronology of the disclosure of the case began when officers received an information from intelligence. After that, his party immediately followed up the report on Thursday (5/5/2022), at 12:15 WITA. "In this disclosure, the police is colaborating with BKIPM Mataram Wilker Lembar, and secured a unit of a passenger bus heading for Bima-Surabaya," he said in a press release, Sunday (9/5/2022). Furthermore, when the bus was inspected by the officers, they did not find a health certificate for fish and domestic fishery products on these commodities. He said this live ornamental coral was put on a passenger bus to trick the officers. "We found 7 boxes containing 357 ornamental corals and we confiscated them as evidence," said Obing. During this Eid holiday, his party continues to strengthen their collaboration with the police in monitoring the holidays. Furthermore, this case was handled by the Ditpolairud Polda NTB, while the bus and the crew were secured at Ditpolairud Polda NTB HQ. The confiscated live ornamental corals will be released into the waters of Montong, West Lombok. This location was chosen based on the recommendation of the Directorate General of Marine Spatial Management (PRL). Obing also reminded the smugglers to stop their actions, and said the KKP relationship with the Police and other law enforcement officers is getting stronger and synergistic. "This is the mandate of Minister Trenggono, so we strengthen our supervision with colleagues from other agencies," he concluded.
