Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi visited the Turotego Bamboo Campus in Golewa District, Ngada Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Wednesday (01/06/22). The arrival of the President Jokowi and the First Lady Iriana at the Turotegi Bamboo Campus was welcomed by the Deputy Governor of NTT Josef Nae Soi and the Executive Director of the Bambu Lestari Foundation, Monica Tanuhandaru. Based on information received in Jakarta, Wednesday, at the Campus, the President was keen with the sustainable bamboo houses, various bamboo products, including a bamboo bicycle called Spedagi, and chatted with several Pioneers of Bamboo. "These many seeds can be produced in a month?" asked the President. "Yes,it could be up to 8,000 seeds, Mr. President," answered the lady who pioneered bamboo. The pioneers of bamboo are women from several villages in Ngada and Flores, who studied about bamboo seedlings from shoots for seven days at the Turetogo Bamboo Campus. One of them explained that they get an incentive of Rp2,500 per bamboo seedlings. "It is quite decent and we used it for our children school tuition, health, and expenses for the family," he said.
