Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto announced on Friday t(5/12/2025) hat the government will build a 500-hectare national sports center to strengthen Indonesia’s long-term athlete development program. 

The statement was delivered at the State Palace before he sent off Indonesia’s contingent for the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand.

“I have instructed the Minister of Youth and Sports to prepare a long-term sports development program, including a major training complex of at least 500 hectares,” President Prabowo said, as reported by antaranews.coml

He confirmed that he has discussed the plan with Youth and Sports Minister Erick Thohir, emphasizing that the facility will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class coaching. The center will train young athletes from the age of eight, with opportunities for overseas training and collaboration with top international coaches.

President Prabowo added that the initiative aims to prepare athletes not only for the SEA Games but also for the Asian Games and the Olympics, leveraging Indonesia’s demographic strength of nearly 300 million people.
