Inp.polri.go.id - Cairo. President Prabowo Subianto and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi agreed to upgrade Indonesia-Egypt relations to a strategic partnership. 

The partnership, which was announced in a joint statement after a bilateral meeting at Al Ittihadiya Palace on Saturday (12/4/2025), will strengthen cooperation across politics, defense, economy, education, culture, and people-to-people ties, grounded in justice, mutual respect, and trust.

The leaders also discussed the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Indonesia’s support for Palestine, according to antaranrews.com.

Describing the talks as productive, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to long-standing ties. 

Egyptian Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed el Shennawy said the two presidents explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and promote stability in the Middle East.

President Prabowo was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.

Egypt is the third stop in his Middle East tour after visits to the UAE and Turkey. He will continue to Qatar and Jordan.
