inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto received an official visit from the Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji Sitiveni Rabuka at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, Thursday (4/24/2025), which was the first visit by the head of the country's government.

The visit of PM Rabuka and his delegation to Indonesia marked the commemoration of more than 50 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and the Republic of Fiji.

PM Rabuka and his delegation arrived at the Merdeka Palace at around 10:30 WIB, and were then greeted by the honor guard, the Paspampres cavalry, and elementary school students.

The students enthusiastically waved the Indonesian and Fijian flags, adding to the lively atmosphere of welcoming PM Rabuka's motorcade.

President Prabowo and PM Rabuka are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting attended by delegations from both countries.

As the closing of the series of official visits, President Prabowo will host PM Rabuka and the delegation in an official lunch.

On a previous occasion, Deputy for Protocol, Press, and Media of the Presidential Secretariat of the Republic of Indonesia Yusuf Permana said that the meeting of the two leaders of the country will discuss strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between Indonesia and Fiji.

"This visit is also expected to be a strategic momentum in increasing collaboration between Indonesia and Fiji, while strengthening the role of both countries in facing global challenges together," said Yusuf.
