Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. US President Donald Trump has announced that a 19 percent import tariff will be imposed on Indonesian products entering the US, based on direct negotiations he had with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.
“Indonesia will pay a 19 percent tariff to the United States for all goods imported from them into our country,” he said regarding the agreement reached with Indonesia on import tariffs, as monitored by Truth Social social media here on Wednesday (16/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The new value shows that an agreement has been reached to reduce US import tariffs for Indonesian products from the 32 percent figure first announced by President Trump in April.
Until early July, he insisted on maintaining the 32 percent tariff on Indonesia. However, the U.S. team agreed to postpone the implementation of tariffs to allow three weeks for further negotiations.
Furthermore, President Trump said that Indonesia promised to remove all tariff and non-tariff barriers for US products entering Indonesia.
If there are products from third countries with higher tariffs that will be exported to the US through Indonesia, the 19 percent tariff will be added to those products, Trump said.
In addition to the tariffs, the agreement signed between President Trump and President Prabowo Subianto also includes commitments for Indonesia to buy $15 billion worth of energy from the US and $4.5 billion worth of agricultural products, the US president said.
President Trump also mentioned Indonesia's commitment to buy 50 new Boeing airplanes, most of which are Boeing 777s. However, it was not specified which airlines or parties would buy the planes.
“This important agreement opens the ENTIRE Indonesian MARKET to the United States for the first time in history,” President Trump said.
He also thanked the Indonesian people for their “friendship and commitment to balancing the US trade deficit against Indonesia”.
